Student Loan Bankruptcy Discharge — When Student Debt Can Be Eliminated in Bankruptcy

Student loans are generally not discharged in bankruptcy for 7 years after leaving school — but after 7 years, they can be discharged like any other debt, and a hardship exception allows earlier discharge after 5 years in some cases.
